The Rialto Theater was a small theater located on the main street of Sunbury. It appears to have been built around 1920 and it was later operated by the Comerford Theater chain.
As I recall the theater had no balcony and the first impression one got of it was of its small size. Despite the small size of the theater, it was picked as the showcase theater for an extended area wide run of “The Sound of Music”.
The Rialto Theater closed in the early-1970’s and was destroyed by a fire in 1978.
