This theatre was built in 1941 as the sister theatre to the Esquire Theatre, which is across the street (only the facade survives from the original theatre). The Times Theatre was designed by William B. David, who designed many theatres in Northern California and Oregon.
The Times Theatre was demolished to make way for a shopping mall and hotel.

The Times, right across the street from the Esquire and Encore on K Street, had a grind house policy when I first moved to Sacramento in 1962, double features for a low admission price, several weekly program changes. It shortly thereafter changed to a softcore sex films policy. The Hyatt Regency hotel now stands in it’s place.
