W.J. Kerr opened his eponymous theater in 1906, offering stage shows and silent films. The theater was later leased to Blatt Brothers of Pittsburgh, who changed the name to the Star Theater. A fire gutted the building in 1950, but after reconstruction the theater continued operations until 1962, when it was closed and sold.
