The Strand Theatre was opened January 17, 1923. By 1935, it was operated by the Schine Circuit. It continued to operate until at least 1957. On October 7, 2016 it was purchased by Hudson River Music Hall Productions Inc. a 501c3 not-for profit, who are raising funds to completely restore the theatre. By January 2017 some events had been held in the lobby area (which has a capacity for 49). When restoration of the theatre is complete, it will have a capacity for 400.

The September 7, 1935, issue of Motion Picture Herald said that the Schine circuit’s New Strand Theatre at Hudson Falls, New York, had opened over the weekend. It was not clear from the item whether this was an entirely new theater, or if Schine had simply taken over and renovated the older Strand Theatre.

We, Hudson River Music Hall Productions, Inc., a 501c3 not-for-profit organization, purchased this Strand Theatre on October 7th, 2016. We are in the process of renovating and restoring this theatre. We have located a newspaper article from the opening night, January 17, 1923. We are trying to locate photos, particularly of the interior. It has apparently been changed several times over the years. We are SO excited about this project and have already renovated the lobby area and to the point that we are able to hold small events in that space!
