On the Bowlegs Theatre site the faded photo of the olio curtain shows advertisements for two theaters in Seminole, OK, the State Theatre and Liberty Theatre. The State Theatre was opened by 1929. By 1941 it was operated by the Griffith Amusement Company. The State Theatre was still open in 1957.

These vintage images from OHS may (or may not) be shots of the Seminole State Theatre. Anyone know for sure?

As mentioned on another page by Miss Toast, religeious movie showing was a cheapie from gimmick producer Kroger Babb. Babb usually pitched sexploitation pictures that usually didn’t live up to the promised hype of titilation.

Now days Sharpes Clothing occupies the old State Theatre space at 238 N. Main St.
