The Rio 7 Cinemas opened March 28, 1997. Rio has 31 screens in 5 theaters in Texas. Surprisingly, they have greatly reduced admission in all but one theater.

From Corpus Christ Caller Times, March 29, 1997:

Rio 7 Cinema, a seven-screen movie theater, opened in Kingsville on Friday (March 28, 1997) in the long-vacant VF Factory Outlet Mall.

Sid Hall, president of Rio Entertainment Inc., said he and his brothers, Raymond and Patrick Hall, expect to have a public entertainment hit with the theater in 22,000 square feet of the building at U.S. Highway 77 and Carlos Truan Boulevard.

The Hall brothers have owned other movie theaters in Alice, Beeville and Kerrville for a number of years. Their grandfather, Henry Hall, operated the old Texas Theater in Kingsville from the 1920s until the 1970s.

The new movie complex, seating 1,220 people, will present first-run movies daily from noon to 11:30 p.m. Tickets will be $1.50 for all patrons until 6 p.m. and after that, $3 for adults and $1.50 for children.
