The Canoga Park Drive-In was located on the west side of Canoga Avenue one block south of Roscoe Boulevard. Shut down by the Pacific Theatre chain in the mid-1970’s, the property was sold in 1976 and the drive-in subsequently torn down. The site is now an industrial complex housing a variety of businesses.

The car capacity was between 1100-1200 cars.
I haven’t found an exact address but one website gives the location as Strathern St & Canoga Ave. Anyone know if that is the correct location for this former drive-in?
This venue seemed to follow a curious pattern of San Fernando Valley drive-in theaters being located next to railroad lines, as was the case with both the San Val in Burbank, and the Winnetka in Chatsworth.
Does anyone know if this was on purpose, or merely a coincidence?

The Canoga Drive-in Was located on the South-West corner of Canoga Ave and Strathern St. We had an apartment on Owensmouth (one block West of Canoga) and used to sit on our balcony and get to watch the movies FREE – the sound carried over, too. Rent was a wopping $75/month back in 1966, but FREE MOVIES? …. couldn’t beat it!!

My drive-in in Absecon, NJ had train tracks behind the theater. We used to sit on the tracks and watch the films for free. You could even hear the sound from the paying customer’s clip-on speakers.

It was indeed on the corner of Canoga and Srathern, it stretched back all the way to Owensmouth. I have an Aerial photo of it from 1966. I’d much rather it was still there than the business park.
As soon as Cinema treasures gets their photo system up and running again I’ll post it. in the mean time, here’s a link to the aerial photo of Canoga Park Drive-in circa 1966.
