Opened in 1990, the Waterworks Cinemas were renovated in 2000. The multiplex was closed in September 2007, but it soon reopened under new management.

We had a “Girl’s Night Out” here on Saturday Night. We saw “Marley & Me”. The Waterworks is still a decent place to see a show.
Grand opening is at View link
Thanks for posting that newspaper! I loved it. So many memories of when I was a teenager. I especially liked the listings for Cinema World. Carmike bought most of the Cinema World locations and here is a list of what happened to them:
Southland 9 and Cranberry remain Carmikes;
Manor and Squirrel Hill are now Cinemagic;
Penn Hills is independent, I believe;
Bellevue, Norwin, Denis, and Rainbow are closed. The Denis may reopen soon. The Bellvue and the Rainbow are now dollar stores;
Monroeville was demolished.
Squirrel Hill is now closed. Update to my list above.
Wow, the newspaper ad posted by Mike Rivest is gone already. That was fast!
Haven’t been up this way in nearly two years. Anybody been here lately?
I was here a couple of years ago when I was visiting friends in Pittsburgh.
I lived and worked in Pittsburgh from the early to mid-1990s and I believe I saw “Speed” here. Was there another multiplex close by?
Shame this theater is closed. I worked there in the mid 90s (Interview with a Vampire, Lion King, Santa Clause, Stargate were all there when I worked there). It was a nice theater, with friendly managers and a great staff. I had some really good times there.
I don’t think it’s closed, just checked their website and it showed me their showtimes.
I went there last month — quite open. Pittsburgh Theatre Corporation is running it.
