A 1952 photo of the exterior of the Mayfair Theatre in Colonial Beach can be seen here. Also, the 1951 Film Daily Yearbook gives an address of “Main St” for this theater, though there is no Main Street in Colonial Beach. If anyone has an address, feel free to post it here. Thanks.
There is a photo of the Mayfair here, possibly from the sixties. The caption suggests that the theater burned down in 1970.

As a child about 1948/50 I went to the Mayfair. No A/C, in the middle of summer, but I didn’t care, I was at our beach and it was fun. Many years later I drove by and only a vacant lot is there. How sad.
The correct address is the 400 block of Douglas ave. As I recall, on the corner of Douglas ave. and Livingstone st.
I found two articles listing the address at 402 Douglas Avenue and that would put it at the corner of Douglas Ave. and Livingstone St. if mapped.
By looking at the photos it was on a corner for sure,a great location for a theatre.
It was on the North West Corner of Wilder And Washington Avs. 1 block North of Douglas and 1 block south of Livingston.
The Film Daily Year Book of Motion Pictures shows this theater opening in 1932 and it was still operating as late as 1956. There were 286 seats.
The Wilder & Washington Avs. address is correct, if you look at the Hybrid map you can see the emply lot.
