The Forum Theatre was opened by 1929 when it had 300 seats. The theatre was located at the intersection of East Main Street (National Trails Highway) and South Second Avenue. It was still open in 1957.

In 1963, the Forum was operated by the Western Amusement Company, out of Los Angeles. The president and GM was J.E. Ted Jones. Western Amusement also ran the Barlen Drive-In and and Barstow Theater in that city.

Here is an item from Boxoffice magazine in January 1946:

Jack Anderson, who manages the Forum in Barstow, has revealed that William Cox, Forum owner, has plans drawn for a new 750-seat theater to be built in Barstow early this year.

No, he was building a new theater somewhere else in Barstow. It may have been the Barstow Theater, which later became a twin.

I believe the Forum may have existed as far back as the `20’s. I added a Frasher Foto photo of Main Street from that era, courtesy of the Pomona Public Library. The building appears to be the same, with possible window enlargements by the 1950’s photo.
