The Cine Riviera is located in the Vedado district of Havana on Calle 23 at Avenida de los Presidentes between G Street & H Street. It was opened prior to 1946.
It screens a range of films, usually ‘action movies’, from North America, England, Cuba and Spanish language movies. It occasionaly stages concerts.

It was already operating in 1946. The stairs looked so much higher when I was a child! I remember my cousin took me to see a Cantinflas movie there, perhaps “Soy un prófugo”, and I later saw “The Best of Everything” with Hope Lange and Stephen Boyd in 1959. The Carmelo restaurant next door to the east at 505 served a delicious “toasted ice cream” (baked Alaska). The theater is erroneously positioned on the street map in El Cerro, it was on 23 Street between G and H in Vedado.
