The Texas was in operation into the 50s. The building still stands, but its current occupant is unknown.

The address given for this theater in the 1951 Film Daily Yearbook is “205 W. Broadway”, and there is a Broadway Street in Brownwood, however, it runs north and south. Looks like the FDY made an error.

The website that Ken linked to above claims that West Broadway is now North Center. It doesn’t specify if it is street or avenue. Google will only map Center Avenue and not North Center Street or North Center Avenue.

I read on a website (forgot to bookmark it) that at the end of WW II, the two smallest theaters in Brownwood were the Texas Theater and the Queen Theater. The seat count above is higher than the seat count given for the Gem Theater. Either that website was incorrect, the FDYbook is wrong, or the Texas Theater was expanded at some point.
