Originally opened in 1911 as the Majestic Theatre, this theatre later suffered a fire, and was rebuilt as the Royal Theatre. It closed in the mid-1940’s. During the 1940’s, it was operated as part of Fox Midwest Amusements.

It was built for $20,000 for the Mississippi Valley Eastern Amusement Company, 804 Times Building, St. Louis. The president and architect was F. L. Hopkins.
