The Adult Art Cinema is listed in Bob Damron’s Address Book, 1977 edition, as a gay porn cinema. From its location, it was three blocks to the east of the Forum Theatre, a straight porn cinema built in 1975, which was closed in 2012 & demolished in February 2013.
The Adult Art Cinema was closed prior to 1988 when it was demolished.

I thought this whole block of Market was redeveloped years ago. Can anyone confirm this? If so, the theater would be long gone.
It’s amazing how porn ruled Market Street and surroundind areas during the 70’s and 80’s. Adult Art, would show movie, stop in the middle for a stripper to come out to perform, resume the movie after. Five adult peepshows are left.
Yes, this theater is long gone — 26-years to be exact! This stretch of West Market Street has been extensively redeveloped. This gay porn cinema was demolished when the IBX Tower (now the G. Fred DiBona Jr. Building) was constructed in 1988-1990 at 1901 Market Street. The Forum Theatre, another porn palace just three blocks away, met the wrecking ball in February of 2013.
This Cinema would have closed prior to 1988 if the new building was constructed in 1988-1990.
