The 1931 Film Daily Year Book lists a 200-seat Arab Theatre as the only theatre in Arab, Ala. By the 1941 FDYB, the name had changed to Ritz Theatre. Could Arab and Ritz be previous names for the Arabian Theatre? The theatre looks older than one that would have first opened in 1947.

The Local Historical Society of Arab notes that some of the information you have is incorrect. According to them the Arabian was built in 1947 and closed in 1967. We reopened it in 2007 after extensive remodeling. The Ritz was down the street on main. It originally seated 400. Our website is under construction so please keep checking it for updates on events. It is available for rental. For information call 256-640-7038.
