Live feed from Channel 9 says the theater is being used as a triage center.

I dont want to disagree with someone who might be from the area, but from the pictures I see on the news, A) how do they expect to get the theatre fixed in 2 days, and B) will there even be power or for that matter people in the area to go to the movies.

I agree with markp and their website says they are hoping to reopen on Friday 24th but that is not for sure, It says to check back. I don’t see how they would have the power back up and running for a Friday reopening, and what about the damage to the front entrance of the building.

Brian Williams of NBC new did part of his broadcast in front of the Imax theatre this evening. They showed workmen repairing the neon and he stated that they were working hard to get the theatre back up and running.

markp, as of yesterday, one of the interstate exits that is near to the Warren was still closed and the city/state is encouraging people to just stay away. I imagine that even if the theatre is ready, it will be difficult for patrons to get to it for a while. If nothing else, I think reopening quickly will be a symbol of triumph for the community which really loves this theatre.

When you look at the aerials I am surprised that the theatre did not sustain more damage. You look at the devastation in front, along side and behind the theatre and the theatre looks in pretty good shape. Was the hospital just to the left of the theatre looking from the rear view? It was hard to tell when NBC was broadcasting from in front of the IMAX theatre.

Yes, the hospital is just to the north of the theatre. Only a parking lot separates the IMAX from the south end of the medical center. Here’s another good aerial I ran across today that shows the whole path: http://apps.npr.org/moore-oklahoma-tornado-damage/

The Warren reopens today. I heard that around $500,000 of exterior damage was sustained, but there was very little interior damage. Apparently the theatre is built with some sort of interior “membrane” to protect from water damage and it did its job well. I now know a good place to go in severe weather.
