The Carib Cinema was the first movie theatre to open on the Caribbean island of Dominica. Located in the capital city of Roseau, it began operations in the 1950’s; in later years, it was followed by the Arawak Cinema (also in Roseau) and the Arbedee Cinema (of Portsmouth).
The Carib Cinema was relaunched in 1993, following the opening of the Prevo Cinemall that was built around it.
The Carib was closed in 2000, but reopened about 2-3 years later, with new management. By the time it closed again in February 2006, the last movie to be shown there was "Rebound," starring Martin Lawrence.
