The Hombre Theatre possibly opened in the late-1970’s as it’s not listed in 1976 but is listed as operating as a gay male adult cinema in November 1980. The location is given as between Lexington Avenue and 3rd Avenue, although in reality it was closer to Lexington Avenue.

“Possibly,” and “listed” where? In some gay travel book? Do we need to honor all those “gay male adult cinemas” that were converted out of retail space, were used mainly for “cruising,” and contributed significantly to the AIDS epidemic that still plagues the world?
Yes.
The Department of Buildings lists a 217 seat theater at this location in March of 1978.
“Theater” in the loosest meaning of the word, I’m sure.
