Ster Elite Cinema

A twin screen cinema complex in Mooi Street in the centre of Johannesburg. Purpose built in the early-1970’s, it was originally used to premiere films for Ster Films South Africa. It was very successful in its early days. By the end of the 1970’s and into the early-1980’s, its fortunes begin to slip and it became a last run cinema. It closed in the mid-1980’s and was demolished. The biggest hit film to be shown at the cinema was Al Pacino in “Serpico”
