Located in the small village of Poundstock, 5-miles south from Bude. The Rebel Cinema was possibly the last purpose built single screen cinema to be built in the UK. It opened on 11th August 1988 with a charity performance of Walt Disney’s “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”. The following day it began regular public screenings with “Crocodile Dundee” which ran for two weeks, 3 performances a day. It was independently operated and served the North Cornwall coastline for many years.
The Rebel Cinema was closed in September 2007 and plans were proposed to demolish and build housing on the site. However these came to nothing, and the same owners equipped the Rebel Cinema with a digital projector (also retaining one 35mm projector) and it re-opened on 8th August 2011.

Two more photos can be found on this website. Architect mentioned on that site was Martin Back.
