Located on the second floor of a modern library building, the aptly name Library Theatre opened on 5th October 1979 and began screening films (16mm prints) from 6th November 1979.
There is a wide proscenium arch and a stage for use by both professional and amateur companies. Comfortable seating is in stepped rows, giving excellent views.
The cinema equipment was upgraded to 35mm and Dolby surround sound in 1992 and due to a lack of competition from other cinemas, the Leighton Buzzard Theatre now screens the latest films, plus special ‘classics’ as well as independent art house productions. It also is home to local amateur dramatic societies.
