The Roda Kvarn (Red Windmill) Cinema was opened on 30th December 1915 with a seating capacity of 863. The horseshoe shaped balcony has long side-slips supported by pillars, originally containing seating, they extend along the side-walls to the proscenium.

In 1973 the upstairs foyer was converted into another cinema named Lilla Kvarn (Little Windmill) with seating for 112. At the same time the main auditorium was given a facelift, and the ceiling was painted black. The Roda Kvarn Cinema has seating for 559. Mostly American movies were shown along with some Swedish and European movies. It was closed around 2008, and in 2009, the cinema was turned into an Urban Outfitters clothing store. It has been beautifully restored inside, especially the stunning painted auditorium ceiling. By 2018 it was in use as a restaurant.

By August 2018, the building had become home to a ‘gastronomic paradise’, with a number of restaurants and cafes. Thankfully, the magnificent interior remains intact.
