The Laurel Drive-In was operating by 1955. It was demolished in the early-1970’s.

I believe that part of the property is now underneath the Ronald Reagan Freeway.
That’s exactly where it was, also very near to the football field at San Fernando High. In fact, on nights when there was a game, the lights and crowd noise quite interrupted the atmosphere of whatever movie was being shown. A friend of mine worked at the Laurel and could therefore go in free on other nights. I saw several movies for free by riding with him.
Good comments above. Remember sitting on the back wall watching “A Hard Days Night”. No stereo in those days so music sounded like we heard it on the radio. I don’t ever remember getting chased off the wall.
A classmate of mine was killed when he climbed up the side of the screen and fell inside. That was one of few sad memories of that great Drive-In.
If you have DRAGNET Season 4, Disc 1, Episode 2; the Laurel DI can be seen for about 5 seconds in Jack Webb’s “This is the City” intro.
