Grand / Jewell ... Paris Texas

The Jewell Theater brought Claude Musselman into the business of theater management. 1909 was a big year in Paris for theater openings and this included the Jewell. A couple of years later he changed its name to the "Majestic".

In early 1912 Musselman decided to move the theater closer to downtown. He gathered all the equipment up and opened a theater at corner of 1st and Lamar and called it the "Grand" not to be confused with the later day "Grand" which is still standing as of 2/09. The original Grand however was lost to the 1916 fire.
