Opened as the Lake Theater around 1938. The Indian Lake Theater closed in 2006 but a grant from the state and local contributions enabled the theater to open again.

I wonder if this Indian Lake town, was the inspiration for the Cowsills hit song “Indian Lake”?
They were frOm not too far away in Newport, Rhode Island.
It’s one possibility David. There is also an Indian Lake in Ohio. I’m sure that town would like to think that they were the inspiration for the Cowsills song.
Isn’t there an Indian Lake in Minnesota somewhere that inspired the Cowsill’s song “Indian Lake”? Just curious.
Well, the surviving Cowsill members are performing 10 days in Branson MO. soon. Might just have to buzz down there & find out.
You’ve got me curious. Let us know the answer if you find it. :)
There is an Indian Lake in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in the town of Manistique. As a kid I heard a story that the Cowsills stayed in the west shore state campground on Indian Lake and that is how the song came about.
Charming theater, with new and enthusiastic ownership. I was hired to present and play piano accompaniment for Harold Lloyd’s “Safety Last” there in November 2010. I’ve posted several photos of the place that I took before the show. Theater is presenting a mix of new film, classic/indie/arts film, streamin-vid theater and opera, as well as local live music and theater performances.
