Billed as the largest movie theater complex east of the Rocky Mountains when first opened (1991), Cobb Sawgrass 18 anchored the dining/entertainment wing of West Broward’s Sawgrass Mills regional outlet mall. Five more screens were added eventually, and Regal Cinemas took over after their merger with Cobb.

I loved going to this theater when I lived in Broward. I was surprised when I found out that this theater was built in 1991, and how groundbreaking it was for its time. Regal did a really good job renovating it in 1999.

Anyway, I appreciate the murals that are in most of the auditoriums. I understand that Regal made an exception with the larger murals in this theater by putting clouds in place of the illuminated stars found in most of their other theaters of this vintage.

Does anyone have photos of this theater back when it had 18 screens?
