This theater is so cool! Found it while biking on a trip 2 weeks ago in the upper middle class hamlet of Cornwall-on-Hudson, a stone’s throw from Storm King Highway and the lesser known military academy.
This former theater was built on the site of the town’s former "theatre", Matthiessen Hall, when that building was demolished in 1934.
It still stands as an ice cream parlor (Drew’s on the Square) and its auditorium is a restaurant. The old lobby entrance has a circular, decorative tile floor of a faux compass with an old movie poster holder and box office and a faux round disc chandelier base at the top with Christmas lights strung around. There are 4 concentric circles stretching out from that base; black, beige, crimson and black. A few plastic tables and chairs are inside and it’s a great place to relax from the heat and eat ice cream.
The vertical marquee still stands on the outside, "Storm King".
The pictures will be posted on CinemaTour but I can email you them if you’d like.

Here’s a photo with the original vertical sign still in place: View link
Summer of 1958 “VERTIGO” was doing great business there.
Very cool!
When I was 12, I attended the Storm King School that was in walking distance from this little theater. I remember seeing Judy Garland’s A Star is Born here in January, 1955. What I don’t remember if I saw the edited version.
