The theatre was used as a church for many years and currently is closed—condition poor, but some effort has been made in the last few years to preserve—at least temporarily—it and a neighboring building.

The East Auditorium, with 700 seats, is on a list of Toledo movie theaters published in 1919.

Here is a photo of the East Auditorium from the 1930s.

The East Side Amusement Company was owned and operated by Martin G. Smith and James Beidler, Sr. The Eastwood, East Auditorium, Park, and Westwood Theaters were operated by this company.

Current status should be demolished. Looks like it was demoed around 2015.

Here is information about the East Auditorium Theatre from an August 3, 2018 article written by Larry Michaels of the East Toledo Historical Society:

“On Christmas Day of 1913, A.J. Smith and his son Martin opened the East Auditorium at 519 Main St. The following year, James Beidler became a partner, and soon ‘the people of East Toledo could enjoy the popular movies at a price that was reasonable.’ With the coming of the ‘talkies,’ it flourished, and continued to do a good business well into the 1950s. It later became a Pentecostal church and the building is now gone.”
