Baker is a small suburban town north of Baton Rouge which did not get its first theater until early-1974, when the Baker Cinema was opened between two of its larger shopping centers. Opening as a family-owned single screen, it existed on a steady run of second run product usually for 99-cent admissions. The family sold the theater to the Ogden-Perry chain in early summer of 1978 and a year later, it had been twinned.

By 1981 the Baker Twin Cinema had closed and was last in operation as a church, which has since ceased.
