The New Pavilion Cinema opened in 1911. Seating was arranged in stalls and circle levels. A stage and 4 dressing rooms were included in the building and for many years its programme included films and variety shows.

By the early-1960’s it had dropped the ‘New’ from its name and became the Pavilion Cinema. Closed around 1966, the building was converted into a bingo club. In more recent years it was converted into a nightclub known as Orbit which was Internationaly known as a venue for techno music. This closed in the late-1990’s and most recently the building was in use as an Italian restaurant, known as Puccino’s.

The nightclub opened in 1989 as the ‘After Dark’ and closed in 2003 as the ‘Orbit’ . It has now been converted into an Italian restaurant.

The restaurant didn’t last long, it closed in July 2005 and has been left as it was the day it shut.
