Located in the south London district of Tooting. The Methodist Central Hall was built by Joseph Arthur Rank (later head of the Rank Organisation) as a venue for concerts and talks. Films were also shown on a regular basis from 19th November 1910.
The building was badly damaged by German bombs in 1940, and it wasn’t repaired until 1945. When it re-opened, films were not part of programming. The Central Methodist Hall was demolished in 1967 and a Marks & Spencer store was built on the site. This had become a Primark store by 2011.
