Majestic Theater

| Street View

The Majestic Theater was operating prior to 1941, and continued until at least 1950. Sad and in poor condition the building is currently being used as an athletic club, but a classic movie theater remains visible as of July 2010.

According to the book “The Old Movie Theatre of Texas, this theatre opened in November of 1934 and closed in September of 1953. I believe the dates listed on the Rivest web site are off more than they are on.

There is a commercial on TV purportedly set in Vernon, Texas which has a very prominent shot of the facade of a Plaza Theatre. Is/was there a Plaza Theatre in Vernon, because none is listed on CT, or is this just a little bending of the facts?

I see the theatre is listed as the Vernon Plaza despite the fact that the marquee just says Plaza.
