Premier Picture House

The Premier Picture House was located at the corner of Albert Road and Cooper Street. It opened on 14th June 1915 with “The Jewel of Fate”. It had a 35 feet wide proscenium, the stage was 10 feet deep and there was one dressing room.

Taken over by Cheshire County Cinemas chain in the 1950’s, it was closed in 1959. It later became a motor cycle shop.

On 20th June 2001, it was opened as ‘The Premier’ as part of the J.D. Wetherspoon chain of pubs.
