GRAND Theatre; Parshall, North Dakota, 1915.

Viewing: Photo | Street View

The Grand Theater was the movie theater of the town of Parshall. It was operating prior to 1941, and closed in 1982.

It and the Trail Theater in the neighboring town of New Town seemed to have shared the same owner/operator.

The Grand Theatre was open as early as 1932.

I question it being a Quonset Hut. The U.S. Navy didn’t start to develop the Quonset Hut untill 1941 at Quonset Point, Rhode Island. This theater was alredy 10 years old!

There is a BIG Quonset Hut still standing on Main Street in Parshall.

More info and photos are always welcome.

Bob, I saw that building too, on the corner of Main St. & 1st Avenue NW. Looks like it has had a new front put on it. In the listing of Quonset Hut theatres in Box Office the Grand Theatre is not listed as being one. But there are a lot of errors in B.O. There is a building at Main St. & Central Ave. that looks like it could have been a theatre at one time but again it isn’t a Quonset Hut style. There are a couple websites that incdicate that the Grand was open in 1932 including one on the history of Parshall. So maybe Quonset Hut isn’t the style at all.
