The original Capitol Theatre opened in 1939. It was gutted by fire in 1965, at that time it was owned by B&L Theatres. The theatre was rebuilt and reopened in 1967. It is a single screen theatre seating 540 and now operated by Empire Theatres showing first run attractions.
