The Monroe 6 opened in 2008 as an independently-owned theater, but closed in 2011 after its owner became mired in financial and legal difficulties. In November, 2012, the City of Monroe acquired the theater in an auction sale and announced plans to convert the building into a combination city hall and courthouse.

It is too bad the owners could not make a go of this theater and now it will no longer be a theater. That area of Orange County NY is severely under seated.

Apparently, a number of citizens are very unhappy about the town council’s decision to purchase the theater and convert it. View article
