The single-screen Park Theatre opened in 1953 on the Island Highway in downtown Parksville, with seating for 400.

Due to deterioration of the theatre building and competition from theatres in the north Nanaimo area, the Park Theatre closed in March 1992, then was demolished the following May to make room for parking space for a nearby drugstore.
