Caprice Theatre

The original Chemainus Theatre (not to be confused with the current live performance venue) opened on Willow Street in Chemainus in 1949. The Chemainus Theatre ran on-and-off under different owners until 1970, when Terry Weir took over and renamed it the Caprice Theatre, the first theatre in what would become the Caprice Showcase chain.

The Caprice Theatre closed in the early-1980’s and has since been renovated for retail. An ice cream shop currently occupies a section of the old Caprice Theatre building.
