The National General chain opened the Brentwood Cinema on January 22, 1969 at the Brentwood Village Shopping Centre in Calgary, with seating for 626 in the single auditorium. Canadian Theatres later took over operation of the Brentwood, followed by Odeon in 1978 and Cineplex Odeon in 1984.

The Brentwood Cinema closed in 1987.
