Located in Ilkley, West Yorkshire. The New Cinema was opened on 21st May 1928 with Janet Gaynor in “Seventh Heaven”. Designed by architectural firm Chadwick & Watson of Leeds, it had a white faiance facade. It had a 36 feet wide proscenium and a 9 feet feet stage. It was equipped with a 2 Manual Fitton & Haley organ, which was opened by organist Harry Packard. There was a cafe and a dance hall attached.
It was taken over by the Newcastle based Essoldo Group in March 1949, and re-named Essoldo. It was closed on 16th September 1969.
