DIAMOND MOVING PICTURE THEATER; Omaha, Nebraska.

The Diamond Moving Picture Theater was nearly filled with filmgoers when it was flattened by the horrific Easter Sunday tornado in 1913. Rumors soon circulated that hundreds had died inside the theatre, but in fact all its patrons had escaped. Because of those early reports, however, a large number of rescuers collected there, which proved useful as the majority of those killed dead were in the vicinity surrounding the theatre.

It was rebuilt and operated as an African-American theatre by 1919. On January 30, 1925 it was renamed Lake Theatre. It was still operating as an African-American theatre in 1929.
