Located in the Milwaukee Art Museum Quadracci Pavilion which opened on May 4, 2001 and was designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava. The theater has raked upholstered seating and is named for Sheldon B. Lubar, born in Milwaukee, May 21, 1929. He is a philanthropist and was President of the Milwaukee Art Museum and is now a Trustee Emeritus.

Some movies that have been shown at the auditorium are: “The Distance: A Triathlete Journey” February 2009, World Premiere. “Out of Cordoba” September 9, 2012. “Solstice” November 10, 2012. “Elippathalam” April 14, 2013.

The Milwaukee Short Film Festival has been held here each year since 2009 and will continue here at least through 2014. The 13th Annual will be held Friday & Saturday, October 25 & 26, 2014.

Anyone know if this is the same theater that Dale Kuntz, Milwaukee’s Mr. Movies, who was film curator at the Milwaukee Art Museum used when he ran a regular movie series?

More info, corrections, photos, inside and out, old and new are always welcome.
