Opened as the Starr Theatre around 1927 (it is listed in the 1928 edition of Film Daily Yearbook). In the 1930 FDY it is listed as being equipped for sound. The cinema does not have a street presence, as the entrance is up a passage, with the building located behind other premises on Montgomery Street. Now operated by a non-profit member supported arts organization, who also operate the former Tinker Street Cinema in Woodstock, NY, now also renamed Upstate Films.
