It was equipped with a RCA sound system around 1929. The Alexandra Cinema was taken over by the Leeds based Star Cinemas chain in 1940. It was closed as a cinema in 1960, and was converted into a Star Bingo Club. It was closed in 1970, and was demolished in a road widening scheme.
