Towne Cinema

Opened in the 1930’s as the Oak Theatre with 371 seats. The Towne Cinema opened on July 8, 1976 on 8th Street in downtown Brandon. The single-screen venue, which seated 297, was located at the Town Centre mall (which was built on the site of the original Capitol Theatre) and was operated by Landmark Cinemas.

The Towne Cinema closed in 1998 when the second Capitol Theatre (now the Landmark Brandon) opened at Shoppers Mall.

According to the article at http://westenddumplings.blogspot.com/2011/10/aagaard-brothers-in-brandon.html the Towne Cinema was the same building as the old Oak Theatre, which opened way back in 1930. It has been demolished.
