The Funlands Drive-In was situated on Swartklip Road in the then rural suburb of Philippi. The rural area was developed and later became known as Mitchell’s Plain. When the Funlands Drive-In opened during the early-1970’s it became Cape Town’s largest drive-In cinema. The Funlands Drive-In closed during the late-1980’s.
The site was later developed as a residential area.
