With no movie theatre since 1931 the Dillard Theatre was opened on September 1, 1940. Admission was 10 cents. It was owned by Mr. Roy Dillard. The theatre seated 500 and was still listed as open in the late-1950’s. The building is still standing next door t the Post Office. There is a large D at the top of the building.
Columbia two reelers such as the Three Stooges, Buster Keeton and others were extremely popular at the Dillard Theatre. Also in the early-1950’s 3D shorts were very popular at the theatre.
