Springfiled Cinema

Located in the south Birmingham district of Sparkhill. The Springfield Picture Playhouse was opened in 1914 and was designed by architect Horace G. Bradley. The proscenium was 26 feet wide. It was equipped with a Western Electric(WE sound system around 1930.

Later known as the Springfield Cinema, it was closed on 31st May 1958 with Harry Secombe in “Davy” and Rory Calhoun in “The Hired Gun.

It was converted into a furniture store, and is now selling Pine-wood furniture. The original entrance, which was to the right of the building has been demolished.
