Cineworld Cinema - Whiteley

Whiteley is a small community of just 6,000 residents situated just across the M27 motorway from its postal town, Fareham, Hampshire. It was only developed in the late-1980’s, with the main focus being the Whiteley Village outlet centre, a pedestrianised shopping centre consisting of a number of discount stores.
In September 2007, British Land announced plans to spend upwards of £100m redeveloping Whiteley Village. The outlet was duly demolished in Autumn 2011, with the exception of the medium-sized Tesco supermarket.
The new Whiteley Shopping Centre opened on 23rd May 2013. In November 2015, on adjacent land, a brand new leisure complex opened. This includes a number of restaurants and a Cineworld multiplex, which opened on 19th November.
The large building housing the cinema and its attendant restaurants is quite striking. However, it is worth noting that the cinema name boards, on what looks like an ‘add-on’ to one side of the main building, are some distance from the extremely innocuous entrance, which is rather ‘squeezed in’ amongst the restaurants. The first floor cinema foyer, reached by escalator, is, however, extremely attractive and very colourful, making what could be a fairly sparse area appear very welcoming.
