Located in Selby, Yorkshire at the corner of Scott Road and Flaxley Road. The Ritz Cinema was opened on 23rd March 1939.

In 1954 it was taken over by the Leeds based Star Cinemas chain. It was closed for a week in 1954 to install VistaVision and it re-opened on 15th November 1954. Later CinemaScope was installed. The Ritz Cinema began to open on Sundays from 1955. In 1961 it went over to part-time Star Bingo on two days a week. Soon wrestling was introduced to the programming to supplement the film nights.

The Ritz Cinema was closed by a fire on 1st December 1982, which occured soon after the audience had left the building. It was totally gutted, leaving only the steel roof trusses and the four walls standing. The remains of the building were demolished in 1983. The sire is now Walkers of Selby car lot.
